ACL Surgery - week one

So, a while back I wrote a post about how I needed surgery on my knee to repair my ACL. Last friday - one week ago today - I had that surgery. I'm one week into the six-to-nine month [or nine-to-twelve month or whatever] rehab after the surgery. I must say, I feel a lot better than other parts of this week but I've never felt more pain before in my life. Monday was a KILLER. I had an appointment with the doctor to make sure there were no complications, and everything was fine. I was in soo much pain crutching myself from point A to point B in that hospital that I couldn't even sit in a wheelchair. They gave me painkillers and a brace that covers my entire leg, my new best friend lol. Anyway. Pain literally alternates, some days I'm in the 2-4 range and some days it's definitely 9-10++. It's pretty ridiculous. I can't even bend at the knee due to the brace, and I've iced my knee pretty much twice daily and that too feels sooo good until they take the ice off. That's another sort of pain - WOW. Lol, I could almost feel a sharp pain in my knee in agreement. As of now I'm in my bed, leg straight, I'm pretty comfortable in a scrunched way, and hoping I have better news to post next week.

I'm due back in school March the 10th - I don't know if I'll be walking by then, actually I KNOW I'm not. I gave a pretty good argument for why I should stay home a third week [I only have 2 days of classes that week so I won't miss much]. But hey we'll see how this goes. My counselor called my house randing about when I'll make up four or possibly six days of christian service. Maybe someone should reconstruct her ligament so she could see that's definitely LOW on my list of stuff on my mind right now. But I digress.

LOTS of cable is the best painkiller! My favorite new show is Important Things with Demetri Martin on Comedy Central!!

Friday the 13th, February, 2009

JUG Day was a complete success. The most fun we've had all year and definitely the best JUG Day I've seen in my years at Regis.

JUG is like detention at my school. It stands for Justice Under God. JUG Day is the last day of second trimester, aka the last day that all the seniors are together in the school. A third of us is going to do full time Christian Service five days a week instead of school for third tri, another third will be in school [me], and the rest will be at a 9 to 5 internship. Since it's the last day, all the seniors wreak havoc around the school: making noise, dressing up in wacky costumes, and the like. The point is for all of us to have JUG together after school, and since the Dean knows it's all a joke we tend not to have such hefty JUG sentences (we actually served 30 seconds of JUG - only after the 20 minutes it took for the dean to go through all of our names).

The theme for JUG Day this year was "Animal Noise." [Which has a history in itself but I digress.] Everyone had on animal masks or regular costumes. We also called a last minute addition to the theme - scooters. Picture this, 70 to 80 seventeen- and eighteen-year-olds, zooming around the school in scooters. CRAZY.

At 1:13PM we scheduled to raid the quadrangle of the school, ONLY TO BE AMBUSHED by the faculty blocking off every entrance to the quad. Then we literally ran stampeded away from them as they chased us, which as you can imagine made everything funnier.

The picture above was taken right before JUG when we were all waiting outside the room. After JUG we ended up stampeding downstairs from the 5th floor to the quad. AMAZING. Definitely a highlight of my senior year at Regis.

College stuff !

I'm going to blame my lack of blog activity on this CRAZY college process. So far, I have applied to 9 schools and got accepted to one of them.

YAY! I'm happy that at least one accepted me, because that means worst case scenario - all my other schools reject me - I'll still have a school to go to next year. AKA I'm done with senior year. LMAO.

My surgery is this Friday, the 20th. [Yikes!]

Soo not looking forward for third trimester.
Classes: Studio Art, Nixon Redux, Statistics 3rd Tri, Spanish IV 3rd Tri.
I hate history.
